The Satchmo Collection is a steadily growing collection of Armstrong recordings, photographs, letters, books, artwork, videos, memorabilia, musical instruments, and other material purchased by or donated to the Archives by Armstrong friends, fans and collectors. Highlights include a 1934 Selmer trumpet and mouthpiece given to Louis by King George V of England, an autographed cornet case donated by trumpet player Randy Sandke, an autographed handkerchief donated by Italian vocalist Ray Martino, and two scrapbooks compiled by Arvell Shaw. Each year, more than 100 new acquisitions are added to the Satchmo Collection.
